The ArduinoDroid app lets you write with code complete and libraries, compile, upload Arduino or ESP8266/ESP32 sketches over USB or WiFi, and monitor your board right from your Android device with ArduinoDroid. No internet connection and no cloud service account are required.

The app takes about 500Mb in internal storage as it contains IDE, compiler, and uploader for AVR and ESP8266/ESP32. Make sure you have enough free space and it can’t be currently installed on an SD card because of Android security policy.

But do keep in mind that the app’s latest 6.0.0 version can damage your hardware (Android or ESP board) or lead to data loss (sketches or any Android data). The developer tested it with a few Android devices with different versions of Android and two ESP32 boards so it’s less likely to happen. Also, you can wait for a few weeks to make it stable and available in the production channel on Google Play.

You should also keep an eye on other known issues. Compilation does not work on Android 10 devices starting ArduinoDroid alpha 2 due to permission issues (Android 10 changes) at the moment. Fixed for ESP8266 compilation in Alpha 4 (still an issue for AVR and ESP8266 compilation, TBD).
