More about Linux Deploy

Linux Deploy app helps you to install and run the Linux OS on your android phone. Running a full Linux distro will be a piece of cake with this app that creates a perfect desktop-like environment and commands on your phone. You will also need to install the BusyBox app in conjunction with this app.

It will help you to run various Linux commands that are essential to getting Ubuntu working on your phone. After installing Linux Deploy, open it and tap the icon with the three sliders (bottom-right corner). Here you can select the Linux distro you want to install. Next tap “Distribution,” then select the distro name, such as Ubuntu.

But before you complete the above mentioned steps you will need to Install the Linux Deploy app which you can do easily by clicking the download button. The app is free to use and has been scanned for viruses so you can use it without any hesitation.

Scroll to the GUI section at the bottom of Linux Deploy, tap the “Enable” box and make sure “VNC” is selected under Graphics subsystem. Once you’ve done that, you can also go into “GUI Settings” to set the resolution of Linux once it runs.

After that scroll back up about halfway until you find “User name” and “User password. You can change them or just let them stay as default but don’t forget to write them down as you may need them later on. Now its time to Go back to the Linux Deploy home screen, tap the three-dotted menu icon at the top-right and tap Install.

The installation may take from one to several minutes, depending on the speed of your smartphone. Linux deploy supports multi language interface. You can manage the process of installing the OS, and after installation, you can start and stop services of the new system (there is support for running your scripts) through the UI.

Once it’s finished which will be denoted by the “<deploy” message at the bottom of the install log. Tap Start at the bottom-left corner, then “OK.” Once you see the message “<<< Start” at the bottom of the log, Linux is deployed and running.

Before you start experimenting with the Linux Deploy app we recommend that you use a rooted phone because once installed this app will not be easy to uninstall and can be a very lengthy process if you install the system on your personal phone.
